Zoulikha Rezoug
Zoulikha Rezoug is a PhD candidate in Human Genetics at McGill University and a Canadian board-certified genetic counsellor. Her doctoral research focuses on the governance and ethics of genetic and genomic biobanks in non-Western contexts. She is supervised by Dr. Ma’n Zawati in alignment with his research interests in health law and bioethics.
From 2023 to 2025, she was a faculty member at Qatar University in Doha, where she taught and trained students in the Master’s Program in Genetic Counseling. Before transitioning to academia, she served as a research genetic counsellor and clinical research coordinator at the Lady Davis Institute (Jewish General Hospital) and at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal.
Her professional interests include cancer genetics, research ethics, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). As a member of FoulkesLab under the supervision of Dr. William David Foulkes, she coordinated the creation of the Cancer Predisposition Genetics Biobank and spearheaded GREAT-AGATA, a breast-cancer predisposition genetic testing and counselling mainstreaming initiative. She also coordinated several research governance approvals and conducted research projects focused on colorectal cancer predisposition (including the CHARM and GENGI projects) and BRCA1/BRCA2-related prostate cancer predisposition.
In addition to her research and teaching roles, Rezoug contributes to professional service as a member of the Canadian Board of Genetic Counsellors’ Continuing Education Credits Sub-Committee.
Rezoug holds a Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling (2017) from Université de Montréal. Earlier in her career, she worked as a researcher in microbiology and in private clinical research (Altasciences), and completed Bachelor’s (2009) and Master’s (2012) degrees in Microbiology and Immunology, also at Université de Montréal.
