Zachary Sentell
Zachary is a fourth-year PhD candidate in Human Genetics at McGill University. He works in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas Kitzler at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), where he researches novel genetic causes of renal disease. Zachary graduated with a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, British Columbia. He currently serves as the Co-President of the Human Genetics Students’ Society. His research project is funded by the CIHR Doctoral fellowship, focusing on developing strategies to characterize the molecular consequences of genes and variants of unknown significance in genetic kidney disease. Zachary’s career interest lies in clinical molecular diagnostic testing, with his ongoing work contributing towards implementing diagnostic genetic tests for hereditary kidney diseases at the MUHC.
